Guided Scrambling

Scrambling fills the gap between rock climbing and walking. Moving much faster and over less technical ground than climbing but often in serious or exposed positions requiring the use of rope and climbing hardware, the possibilities for incredible days out are almost endless. From stunning classics like 'Cneifion Arete' or 'Pinnacle Ridge' to great undertakings like Innaccesible Pinnacle on the Skye Cuillin there is a huge number of established routes to get to grips with. Outlined below are a few of the best scrambles in the UK to have a look at!

What prior experience do I need?

To undertake guided scrambling, you do not need any prior climbing or scrambling experience. Some previous hiking/hillwalking experience and a base level of hiking fitness is desired but not essential.

What should I expect?

A guided day out for beginner scrambling will involve a full (8hr) day out in the mountains, moving over terrain that is "well off the beaten track'' and at times will involve the use of a rope. All rope-work procedures will be explained in full with opportunity along the way for development or learning. We will usually aim to take in a summit along the way (hopefully with a good view) before returning to the valley in the afternoon. Full itinerary can be provided upon request.

For those wishing to do bigger or more taxing scrambles we assume you have some experience of scrambling/climbing and will ask you to briefly outline this prior to our day out!

We offer Scrambling guiding everywhere throughout the UK, although due to the scale of some of the larger Scottish excursions prices and availability may differ on some of these adventures.

Guided Scrambling can be provided on a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio. If you are booking alone but keen to share the experience (and cost) with another client please let us know and we will try and accommodate this.

"I've had two wonderful days out in the Lakes with Chris scrambling and multi-pitch climbing. He's a consummate professional, incredibly patient and very good at explaining things - I learnt a lot and I always felt at ease and safe. I would recommend him without hesitation!"
